At PRAGNYA, the "Social Immersion" is an initiative where we try to acculturate our Autism families (not just the child) to the neurotypical world.

At PRAGNYA, the "Social Immersion" is an initiative where we try to acculturate our Autism families (not just the child) to the neurotypical world. As part of this initiative, we have started the PRAGNYA concert series, where we invite local Bay Area Classical Music exponents to come and perform for our families.

Gita Shankar accompanied with the Mridangam by Varun Vishwanath.

The first performance in the Series was by Gita Shankar. Born to a family of music connoisseur, Gita began learning carnatic vocal lessons at an early age of 4 and veena lessons at 5. She currently learns from Guru, Sri Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan. Gita took her
 
first step to performing on stage at the age of 7 and has been performing regular concerts here in USA and in India during the Chennai Music Festival. She regularly accompanies young musicians on the Veena.

Varun Vishwanath, who accompanied Gita in the performance learning Mridangam at the age of five, and has since been under the tutelage of Sri. Ramesh Srinivasan, the leading disciple of Mridangam Maestro Sri. Vellore G Ramabadhran, at Sarvalaghu Percussion Arts Center, in San Jose. Varun is passionate about all forms of music and also plays the Western Double Bass as part of the school district orchestra.
